Disability sport

The University has actively promoted disability sport for many years and when the plans for the centre started, disability access was high on the agenda. The sports centre will not only be fully inclusive but we are also working with the British Paralympic Association, the English Federation of Disability Sport and WheelPower to introduce a wide range of disability sports. Our aim is to become the leading centre for disability sport in the UK, providing a state-of-the-art environment for national and international competitors.

Our graduates have already experienced great success at international level in a range of disability sports. Most notable is our own sports development officer, Vicki Hansford who is the world champion and world record holder in adaptive rowing.

Phil Lane "This is truly exciting for the future of disability sport. I know of no other centre in the UK that can offer this level of provision on one site."

Phil Lane, Chief Executive, British Paralympic Association
